Fatima Pre-University College, Hubli
Fatima Pre-University College was established during the academic year 2002-03, as a memorial of the Golden Jubilee of Belgaum Diocese. Fatima Pre-University College was the brain child of Rt. Rev. Bernard Moras, the then Bishop of Belgaum, and was executed by Fr.Felix Monteiro as its founder, with a noble purpose of imparting quality education coupled with social, ethical and human values to the youth of Hubli City and the surrounding areas.
Within a short period of six years, Fatima College has made a name in the educational circles of Hubli-Dharwad. There were only 124 students in the year 2002-03 with one section each in Science, Commerce and Arts. In the year 2006-07, we have been granted permission to start an additional section in Science and in the year 2007-08 in commerce. Now we have ten sections with a total strength of seven hundred and thirty three students.
Rev. Fr. Felix Monteiro the founder Principal of Fatima PU College was transferred to Nirmal Nagar. In his noble place, I Rev. Fr. Allam Sleeva has stepped in as the Principal. Mr. J.C Luiz who helped Fr. Felix Monteiro as the Vice Principal was of immense help to me. I acknowledge and appreciate his services with a thankful heart.
Academic Performance: Our College has obtained excellent results from the first year itself. The over all results of the last year’s PUC Board Exams were the best in Hubli City. This year we are preparing our students to get 100% results. In the year 2007-08, our students obtained top most marks in their respective groups and individual categories. The highest individual percentage in all Subjects was 94 in Commerce 93 in Science and 88 in Arts. In the Science discipline, our Students have scored as high as 98.5 percent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Many of our Students have scored hundred marks in subject like Mathematics, Accountancy and Statistics.
In order to improve the overall performance this year we have introduced different tests and three hours of preparatory exams to boost the confidence of students. We have also conducted seminars, test paper solving sessions and career guidance programmes. These exercises I am sure will help us to realize our goal of achieving 100% results.
Extra Curricular activities: help for the full pledged development of personality. To mention a few, we have conducted competitions like English spelling competition, Singing Competition, Elocution, Essay writing, General knowledge Quiz and many more, like Rangoli, Mehendi, and Flower arrangement Competitions.
In Sports: We have been recognized as one of the best in Hubli City. This year we have conducted the Taluka Level Sports Meet for PU Colleges of Hubli City. Our Students have won 24 prizes in all. At the district level, our students performed remarkably well and secured five prizes. Our football team has won 3 times continuously in the district level foot ball tournament. Eight players from our College have played in the State level football team.
Mile Stones: Growth and Change is the sign of progress. We have grown from a PUC College to a professional College. Now we have Fatima College of Business Administration and Fatima College of Computer Applications in our Campus. Our Students have immensely benefited from these courses. The BBA and BCA Students of our College have won many prizes in inter-collegiate Competitions. Recently they have secured the first place in a National level Competition.
Discipline: We believe that discipline is the essence of a happy and an organized life. To us discipline is an integral part of education and growth. We are particular about classroom discipline, Campus discipline and academic discipline. Many parents have appreciated us for this unique feature of our college.
Committees: The year 2008-09 saw the emergence of certain committees headed by faculty members. The various committees were for academic excellence, Discipline, cultural, co-curricular activities, sports, conducting exams and maintenance. These committees greatly contributed to the general administration. They also added to the efficiency and smooth running of the day-to-day affairs. I specially thank these committee members for the commendable job they have done thank you for strengthening my hands
Conclusion: Cardinal Newman a visionary of his times prayed as follows ‘Lead kindly light through the encircling gloom, Keep thou me on’. Likewise, we pray to almighty God to lead us in the future. We seek and request your active cooperation and support in shaping the bright future of our students. We, the staff and students of the college pledge to work continuously for greater excellence in the years to come.
